What I’ve learned: Certain foods, vitamins, and minerals can contribute to prostate cancer risk.

I would also like to say that I’m a high school teacher and I currently have some students researching prostate cancer for a science project and are presenting it to the class. I think it’s important that everyone is aware of what it is and how it can affect you and people around you!

Fact – prostate cancer can be beaten.

Awareness to this deadly cancer is extremely important. Many men do not go to the doctor for regular yet necessary checkups, especially to inquire about their prostate. Communication is extremely important. Yet they feel uncomfortable talking about it.

I’ve noticed something this movember. As a hockey mom in the arenas every weekend and all weekend long – this is a location where proud dads and granddads can be found in droves – I observed some of these dads and yes – granddads, sporting their mo’s and proud to be talking about it.

Thanks BT for spreading the awareness – it is catching on.

The scariest fact I’ve learned about prostate cancer is that it is the most common non-skin cancer in America, affecting 1 in 6 men. Thankfully my dad has started to get tested this year. Way to go Pop!

checked out and i also make sure he watches his diet and eats nuts for his snacks,he is doing well,thankyou breakfast tv for doing what your doing for prostate cancer the more aware people are the better.

Prostate Cancer Facts

Prostate cancer is:

* The most common cancer among Canadian men – it will afflict 1 in 6 men and is a greater threat for those with a family history of the disease
* Turning up in men in their 40s
* Going to be diagnosed in about 25,500 men this year, not including cases that go undiagnosed due to men’s unwillingness to go for annual check-ups
* Develops as a result of dietary, environmental and heredity factors (more research is needed to identify its causes and prevent the disease)
* New, preliminary research suggests pharmaceuticals may help prevent prostate cancer in men at high risk of the disease
* Often without symptoms in its earliest, most curable stage – making annual testing ever more important
* Treated by surgery, radiation and hormone therapy (among other treatments)
* Thought to be a potentially preventable cancer in many cases, but more research is needed

*Symptoms may include slow or painful urination, blood or pus in the urine, painful ejaculation and pain in the lower back or abdomen, pelvis or upper thighs. If experiencing any of these symptoms, please consult a doctor immediately.

Ryan the mustache has grown fantastic! Also one fact that I have heard about prostate canceer is about 1 man in 6 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. I did not realize it was such a large ratio.

Prostate cancer can be successfully removed by surgery. Early detection is the KEY!
