Shortened season or not, we’re thrilled to be dropping the proverbial puck on our fourth annual BT Edmonton Hockey Pool. While some past competitors may boycott this year’s edition out of spite following a lengthy NHL lockout, we have no doubt hundreds of you are as eager as we are to see our favourite players back on ice…and our hockey pool back up and running.
As always, it takes 30 seconds to get started and it’s free to enter. Click here to register and pick your players. If you’ve entered the BT hockey pool in past years, you’ll just need to enter your email address and password to access your saved profile. This year, you’ll pick ten forwards, two defencemen and one goalie. Skaters receive one point for a goal or an assist, goalies receive two points for a win and one point for an overtime loss. Select one player from each round. There are no trades through the season. Registration closes Saturday, January 19 at 4:30pm MST.
It’s an especially interesting year for Oilers fans entering the BT Hockey Pool. You’ll have to decide if your favourite players are worth choosing over other NHL stars. For example, do you go with Taylor Hall or former Hart Trophy winner Corey Perry in round three? RNH, Pavel Datsyuk or Zach Parise in round four? Jordan Eberle or Bobby Ryan in round five? Ales Hemsky or Jordan Staal in round six? Whatever your draft strategy, we hope you have fun making those tough decisions and seeing how you stack up against other hockey diehards in the BT family.
Huge thanks to Wayne Wagner at Wayne’s Sports Cards & Collectibles for supplying yet another fantastic prize pack for this year’s BT Hockey Pool winner. We’re also grateful to the team at www.PoolExpert.com for their support every step of the way.
This year, we’re offering an extra incentive to join the BT Hockey Pool. One competitor will win two Oilers jerseys and $150 to spend at Boston Pizza just for signing up. We’ll make that random draw on Monday, January 28.
We’ll check in on the BT Hockey Pool standings throughout this shortened NHL season. Be sure to watch BT to see how your team stacks up.
Let’s drop the puck!

January 17th, 2013 at 7:22 amExcited to see the hockey pool I have been doing it from the first year, question for you, the first year it had a plave to check off if you wanted daily emails with your and everyone’s standings, I didn’t see it last year or this year, am I blind or do they not have that option anymore? I loved the option, it was quick and easy! Have a good day and thanks!
Happy to see hockey up and going again

Hi Ryan, I received a sheet to enter the BT Hockey Pool, tried to create an account, but after filling in all my info, thing pops up and says that e-mail address has already been taken? How can someone have my e-mail address, isn’t that like DNA. Only one possible? This is the only e-mail I have ever owned or belonged too. What should I do? Need to enter my players by Sat. the 26th. Please hurry for response.

January 23rd, 2013 at 8:10 pmL. Achtemichuk – did you sign up for the BT pool in past years? Or another pool using PoolExpert.com? That may be why your email address is on record.
Lily, our apologies for the type-o. The pool closed on the 19th, opening day of the 2013 NHL regular season.
