I once shared (vague) directions to a fabulous off-the-beaten-path camping spot with our BT viewers. A camping buddy who happened to be watching the show called me in protest immediately after the segment.

“What are you thinking?” he asked. “The next time we head out there it’s going to be packed with people!”

I had to remind my friend that Mama didn’t raise no fool. My directions would have led to the general area but not directly to our secret spot. I get how it works. Ask any camper, hunter, surfer, snowboarder, sledder, bird watcher, etc and they’ll share the same message: secret spots are meant to be kept secret!

But I’m not in the business of keeping entire areas to myself. The way I see it, the more people that enjoy our incredible Canadian wilderness the better! Turns out Camille Weleschuk with Tourism, Parks and Recreation feels the exact same way. She swung by BT to share a few of her own secret spots leading up to May long weekend.
