Let's Go !! LET's G-O!!!

Keven’s 2 Beagles are  raring to go!!    “The beagle on the left is Sam … aka “Scent-sational Sam”.   He is a blue tick beagle.   Daisy is a combination of the traditional small size tri-color & blue tick beagle.   They are both very smart and very social!   Beagles are one of the few hunting dogs that need little training and instinctively track rodents - which in Edmonton is a challenge - because of all the jackrabbits.   When they get a scent, they yodel a very distinct loud howl that any hound owner will recognize.   A good hunting beagle will track as long as he has a scent, without end.   I can attest to the fact that with a scent, Sam has no thought other than–”Lets go! Let’s hunt! I got a scent! A-woooooo!”

DID YOU KNOW?    Alongside the Bloodhound, the Beagle has one of the best developed senses of smell of any dog.    Beagles are better at ground-scenting (following a trail on the ground) than they are at air-scenting.    The long ears and large lips of the Beagle probably assist in trapping the scents close to the nose.
