Kiss me you fool!!
When Lesley sent this in she warned me it was – and I quote her: ”The cutest Fresh Air Photo EVER!” Well Lesley’s Kiss Cam “is” pretty adorable: “We snapped this photo on Canada Day at the Jasper Park Lodge - two loving squirrels.”
DID YOU KNOW? In July of 2007, 83 Columbian ground squirrels were relocated within JNP when a pipeline project was being built. Parks Canada biologists were concerned that the pipeline construction in the winter would unearth hibernating ground squirrels – potentially killing them. So project biologists used live traps baited with peanut butter, oats and apples to capture the ground squirrels, and relocated them to suitable habitats several kilometres away. Seven different colonies were successfully relocated - where they have been documented excavating new burrows and beginning to establish new colonies.
WE DON’T WANT TO SAY ‘TOLD YOU SO’ … BUT WE ‘WILL’ REMIND YOU HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO ALWAYS HAVE YOUR CAMERA AT THE READY. SEND US YOUR FRESH AIR PHOTO TODAY – SEE IT ON BT AND THIS BLOG, TOMORROW~!
