This bird house is not that far from the farm house. Keven took a road trip to the Caroline area where his sister has a farm. But it doesn’t look like any of the fine-feathereds are home. Maybe they are out catching insects for dinner – or looking for building materials to soften the nest box bed.
DID YOU KNOW? The line from the movie Field of Dreams was right: “If you build it they will come”. Many types of birds will be grateful if you build them a nest box. You will attract Mountain Bluebirds, Starlings, Wrens, Owls, and if there is water nearby – Ducks. The Alberta Conservation Association suggests you place the box with the entrance hole about 2.5 metres (8 feet) above the ground, higher for owls and kestrels.
