We don't see her but she "is" there!
Dorothy had an unexpected yet enchanting encounter while at Jackfish Lake: “Can you make out Mother Duck in the middle of the photo in the grass? I was out fishing and almost stepped on the nest. To my surprise, mother did not get mad at me, she held her ground and just showed off her babies at play.”
DID YOU KNOW? Female ducks lay one egg a day for a full nest of 8-12 eggs. Most often the nest is close to where she herself hatched. Mom will incubate her eggs for about 28 days and just 24 hours after they have pecked their way out of the shell, she leads them to wetland. 8 weeks later – they are able to fly. Ducks form large flocks which are known as “sords”. http://www.ducks.ca/
