Delivery! Anybody order fuel or food?

Rick sent us a personal postcard from the Arctic Ocean!   ”The  tug MV Nunakput & 2 barges are coming into the harbour off the ocean.   This is how we get our fuel shipped to Tuktoyaktuk – first loaded from rail cars and then onto barges.   We also get our groceries and other supplies shipped in this way.   Barging season is July to late September for NTCL(Northern Transportation Company Limited).

DID YOU KNOW?    Last year, a cruise ship  MV Clipper Adventure  ran aground on a shoal in the Coronation Gulf inside the Arctic Circle.    Fortunately for the passengers and crew, no one was in danger, no damage was done to the hull or the engines, but it was stuck!    The tug in the photo above – MV Nunakput - was one of the many ships that came to the rescue.    Here’s more on this incredible story:  http://www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca/shorelinesfall2011-3
