Morning Moose!
The blue hues are so spectacular! A new day dawing creates a perfect silhouette of a moose in northern Alberta. Jerry takes us on a bit of a hunting trip – hunting for that perfect Fresh Air Photo. In his words: “I photographed him all week chowing down in an alfalfa field. This guy had no clue I was there and wandered back and forth nibbling on new growth willows”. The daytime temperatures were a balmy -20 C.
DID YOU KNOW? During the winter moose grow a thicker coat. They will eat the bark of trees and paw through the snow to get at the grass and twigs under the snow. In September and October the bulls use their antlers to fight each other to win females. Then in late fall the bulls’ antlers fall off and new ones grow.
