A storm blew through Sundre in July and uprooted hundreds of trees. Sherri came out – camera in hand – for the calm ‘after’ the storm. For years that dear old pine tree was able to withstand all the battering Mother Nature threw at it, but on July 15th, it was pushed to its limit. Looks like someone would have breathed a sigh of relief in the building behind. Not sure if you remember July in and around Edmonton, but there were some fierce winds accompanied by thunderstorms. On the 20th, a wild storm at Capital Ex had people running for safety.
DID YOU KNOW? The town’s first postmaster wayyy back in 1906 was named Nels T. Hagen. He was from a place in Norway called Sundre. Sundre became a village in 1950 and a town in 1956.
You will find it along the Cowboy Trail in Mountain View County.
I READ THIS ABOUT SUNDRE ONCE: One of the best keep secrets of rural living. Wide variety of things to do, hunting, fishing, large museum, white water rafting, mountain tours, photographers paradise, enhanced retirement facilities, friendly people – what more could a person ask for.
