Lohan’s out of jail…now what?

Lindsay Lohan is reported to be sending herself to rehab after spending less than 24 hours behind bars Friday.

A judge revoked the actress’ probation on a 2007 DUI conviction after she failed a drug test.

Initially, bail was denied and Lohan was sent to jail to wait for her probation hearing.

But her lawyer won an appeal and Lohan posted $300,000 bail Friday night.

But there are rules for her release: she must wear an alcohol detection bracelet and return to court October 22nd.

Just as all of this is going down, some photos of her with syringes have surfaced. The photos are graphic (and look rather contrived), but I can’t stop you from checking them out if you hit up http://x17online.com/.

Expect to see more from Lauren Conrad. She has another reality show in the works.

She previously starred in MTV reality shows “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills”. (I use the word “reality” really, really loosely. Let’s not forget the ending of “The Hills” series… proving it was all just scripted.)

Now she’s teaming up with MTV again for a show documenting her journey as she launches a new line of clothing and tries to build a house of fashion from the ground up.

I’ll be honest. I will tune in for at least the season premiere.

Ladies for a playground

Ladies came out on Saturday night.  From 18 to 65.  From elastic pants to jeggings. Didn’t matter the age or wardrobe these women were united in a cause.  Besides having a good time, they wanted to raise money to put smiles on the faces of Filipino children.

Ladies Night at Loralei Beaumaris Community Hall

A few months ago, Castle Downs got a great new park.  If you have kids, you must go.  I heard it’s one of the largest parks in western Canada.  The old park wasn’t bad.  However, when the time comes to replace them…most old playgrounds are thrown out because they no longer meeting current safety codes.  There’s nothing wrong with them…thousands of kids were just fine on the wooden structure for 16 years…and let’s face it you and I played on worse as kids. But they just don’t fit our current, stringent safety standards.  The landfill just doesn’t seem like a fitting final resting place for a perfectly good playground.

But this park will rise again.  A dedicated group of volunteers (they have great ones in Castle Downs) didn’t want to see it go to waste so they are giving it away.  They are raising money to send the equipment to a small town  in the Philippines.

This village is 2 hours outside of Manila.  A few years ago most residents  lived in cardboard houses on the roadside.  A few years ago, residents rummaged through garbage looking for things to sell to get money to feed their family.  A few years ago, the children there never dreamed of having a playground.

Well things have changed and are changing.  Now thanks to Edmontians..and the hard work of locals, 42 new homes were erected with septic systems and clean water.  Life is unbelievably different there now…because of silent generosity coming from this city.  The village is actually named…get this…Edmonton Friends GK village.

That’s where this playground is going.  Maybe kids may still have to scavenge through the trash for anything they can use to make a buck…but at least they will have a refuge of fun to come home to.  A simple playground, one we discarded for a fancy new one will mean the world the world to these kids.

That brings us back to Ladies’ night.  CDRS is raising money to get the equipment over there.  Volunteers are raising money to re-furbish and ship the playground and any other donations over.  Then a crew of 17 will head to the Philippines in January to put it up.  And that’s why hundreds of ladies came out on Saturday.  While putting a smile on their face (yes there were strippers) they are putting a smile on countless faces of people they will never meet.  It’s the ultimate in recycling…and the epitome in generosity.

FIND OUT ABOUT BRENDA’S EXPERIENCE – BELOW
No fly zone - Let's walk!

No fly zone - Let's walk!

Brenda had quite the experience.    As you can see – she had front row seats to this gaggle of geese on a mission.    Here’s what she saw:    “These sassy geese were crossing the road this summer on one of the streets in the business district of Leduc ~ LOL!”    Thanks to Brenda.  I am grateful for this picture because it makes me laugh too.    But most of all:  this is something I have never ever seen before - a gaggle of geese playing follow the leader as they cross a busy street.

DID YOU KNOW?    A group of geese on the ground is called a gaggle, when geese fly in formation they are called a wedge or a skein.    Young birds before fledging(flying on their own) are called goslings.    When these loud honkers are migrating, they can travel more than 1 000 km in one day.    When you see a migrating flock,…you are looking at a lot of families travelling together.

SOMETIMES FRESH AIR PHOTOS ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU.    WHEN THAT HAPPENS REMEMBER US … AND WE’LL REMEMBER ‘YOU’ ON BT AND ON THIS BLOG.    UPLOAD YOUR PHOTO TODAY — SEE IT ON BT TOMORROW!!!

DID YOU KNOW?    Fort MacKay is a hamlet located on the west bank of the mighty Athabasca - about 54km north of Fort McMurray.    Back in 1912, it was named after Dr. Williams Morrison McKay, the first President of the Northern Alberta Medical Association.

READ ABOUT MURRAY’S VISITOR – BELOW
Goldfinch

Goldfinch

So many amazing things about this pic AND this bird!    It is an American Goldfinch that has  a-l-m-o-s-t  completely changed into its winter feather coat (MOLT = the replacement of all or part of the feathers).    The Goldfinch is usually A vibrant bright yellow!    Murray is the kind & caring human who took this picture outside their kitchen window.    “We plant sunflowers for the birds every year.    These little beauties migrate as far away as Mexico.  It is now common to see American Goldfinches spending the winter in Central Alberta ~~ partly because of generous birders who keep their feeders full all winter”.    What a treat to have this right out the window!

DID YOU KNOW?According to Hinterland Who’s Who — the birds will feed in what is decribed as a frenzied manner before a storm and show a significant gain in weight before and during the storm.     It is believed this behaviour may increase the American Goldfinch’s chance of survival under adverse conditions.  http://www.hww.ca/hww2.asp?id=24

Amateur Models: So Hot Right Now

Good things are happening at Western Canada Fashion Week…despite the fact they let a bunch of amateurs take to the runway on Wednesday night. My first experience with WCFW back in the spring was a real thrill. A crash course in talking the talk and walking the walk. This time around, I knew I had to amp it up. Bring something new. Something fresh. Something different.

As you’ll see in the video below, all I came up with was a reverse pony ride move that really could have been better executed. Next time I’ll bring a riding crop.

We had a blast partnering up with all of the talented designers, models, hair and make-up artists, photographers and organizers that make WCFW happen. It was a real treat to help raise funds for iHuman, an excellent group helping Edmonton’s vulnerable youth discover and foster their potential through artistic endeavours. It didn’t hurt to be the opening act for the Hugo Boss fall collection either.

I will promise one thing: by next spring I’ll have developed a look that’ll put Blue Steel to shame.

Until then…

FIND OUT WHERE JESSICA WAS - BELOW
Lake Louise canoe club

Lake Louise canoe club

You are looking at what is unarguably one of the most popular and most recognizable views in all of the Canadian Rockies.    Maybe you have even rented one of these red canoes and dipped your oar in the brilliant blue-green water of Lake Louise.    Perhaps you know what it feels like to glide silently through the water towards the unbelievably beautiful Mount Victoria and her glorious glacier.    Jessica was there, and snapped this moment in time for us to enjoy.

DID YOU KNOW?    Lake Louise was named in honour of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta.    She was born in 1848 and died in 1939 .. her mom was Queen Victoria.    Mount Victoria was named after the queen.    And did you notice that the princess had 3 names,…and that one of them was Alberta?    You guessed it — our stunning province is named after her too!    Queen Victoria reigned over the British Commonwealth & Empire for sixty-four years until her death in 1901.

Lohan behind bars by Friday?

Thank goodness she looks good in stripes.

Thank goodness she looks good in stripes.

Lindsay Lohan could be headed to jail as soon as Friday.

A judge revoked her probation and issued a bench warrant for her arrest pending a hearing Friday morning.

She may have to go behind bars and wait for a probation violation hearing to be held.

Lindsay was allowed to remain out on bail last time until her probation violation hearing, but the judge overseeing her case probably won’t give her that privilege because of her failed drug test, and this is her second probation violation hearing in less than three months.

The probation violation hearing could be set for the following week, or as much as 30 days from now.

Lohan admits she failed a recent drug test, violating the terms of her probation for a 2007 drunken driving conviction.

Paris Hilton arrives in court Monday to plead guilty to reduced charges in her Las Vegas cocaine arrest.

Paris Hilton arrives in court Monday to plead guilty to reduced charges in her Las Vegas cocaine arrest.

Paris Hilton can run, but she can’t hide.

After pleading guilty to cocaine possession Monday, she boarded a flight to Japan on business. Upon arrival, she was detained over her drug felony and has been denied entry into their country. Currently, she is being held at the Japanese airport, in a local hotel, while immigration authorities figure out whether to let her into the country or not.

Sources say she’s “devastated” and “beyond upset”.

This all stems from a traffic stop last month where cocaine fell out of her purse. Monday she admitted it was her’s and that she lied about it to police.

As part of her plea deal to avoid felony charges and jail time, Hilton must enter a drug rehab program, do community service, pay a fine, and stay out of trouble for the next year.
