I am, all of those boys rock my boat. But enough of this current event crap, lets hear a song and watch a pretty video that goes along. Yesterday I stated I would dig out a video from the past. I found a nifty video of Ella Fitzgerald covering the tune Mack the knife. I guess it was originally german? wow.

anyway here it is:

now im off for a nap so that I don’t fall asleep during the movie tonight. This early shift has made notorious for such an act.

Have a safe weekend all(me).

In good company

In good company

Saturday afternoon dress code:  baseball cap.    Saturday afternoon mission:  test drive a laptop.    After a dozen desktops and numerous notebooks – I decided on a laptop.    Even more thankful than “I”, were the two men above.    But really, Ray Abusalim and Vashal Singh answered each and every question with professionalism and patience.    What I did not know at first, was that one of those nice young men who helped me with my purchase, was the president and founder of LAPTOP DEPOT!    Good goin Ray – your staff is fantastic, including Michael Petrovici pictured below.

Good gig Michael

Hey! Fields with hay

Hey! Fields with hay

Emil.    Talented and generous.    Generous as he shares this picture.    Story goes: he was on his way back from a morning trip to Elk Island National Park.    This farmer’s hard work caught his eye and he pulled onto a dirt road.     The fog is drifting — almost lifting.    This was late summer, so the golden bales and deep rust brush are even more vibrant agains the lush green.    Emil has a website you might be interested in if you love anything and everything about Edmonton, check it out:  www.iheartedmonton.com.

DID YOU KNOW?    Hay is a plant that farmers use to feed animals.    Straw is the stalk of standing plants – with the grain already harvested.    Straw is used as animal bedding and to help cut down erosion.

WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE SCENER THAT MAKES YOU PULL OVER AND WANT TO PHOTOGRAPH.    FRESH AIR PHOTOS AIR EVERY MORNING ON BT  – AND EARN A SPOT ON THIS VERY BLOG.    UPLOAD YOURS TODAY!

Spidey meets Jack Frost

Spidey meets Jack Frost

Pat shares an incredible paint job by Jack Frost, and shows us how hoar frost has highlighted the wicked web that was weaved (try to say ‘that’ 5 times fast).    The spider web (on its own a wonder of nature) looks even more haunting covered with the hoar frost.    It’s a big web, too — I am in no hurry to meet the architect!    Pat donned boots and walked through knee deep snow to get this close up – now THAT’s dedication we like to see from our Fresh Air Photographers!

DID YOU KNOW?    Hoar Frost is frozen dew that forms a white coating on a surface.    It forms on cold clear nights when objects (like spidey’s web) are colder than the surrounding air.    The web artist formally known as Ms. Spider has spinnerets that produce the silken thread.    First, she lays a fine adhesive thread to drift on the faintest breeze across a gap.   When it sticks to a suitable surface at the far end, spidey will carefully walk along it and strengthen it with a second thread.    This process is repeated until the thread is strong enough to support the rest of the web … and so on, and so on.

IT’S EASY – IT’S FREE – and IT’S GOOD FOR YOU!    HOW OFTEN CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT ‘ANYTHING’??    UPLOAD YOUR FRESH AIR PHOTO TODAY THEN WATCH FOR IT ON BT AND ON THIS VERY BLOG.

Where's the Gold?

Where's the Gold?

Sandra sent this in .. but we must give credit where credit is due:  it was taken by her brother Jimmy.    No word yet on if he actually ‘found’ that pot of gold …OR if he’s sharing.    Jimmy took this shot while working as a wheelman (he steers the boat) on the Rouge River in Detroit Michigan.

DID YOU KNOW?    The famous Irish LORE  is based on a bit of trickery — there really is no end to a rainbow.    The way the physics work, rainbows are actually full circles — only the Earth’s ground gets in the way of us seeing the complete circle.    One version of the fable is that a leprechaun granted one wish to a couple who was very poor and had little.    They asked for riches of gold and silver.    The leprechaun was angered that the couple would be so selfish, but as a hint, told them he put their riches in a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and the story goes the couple is still looking for the end of the rainbow to this VERY day.

YOUR PRIZE IS WAYYY BETTER THAN A POT OF GOLD.    FAME AND BRAGGING RIGHTS ARE YOURS WHEN YOU UPLOAD YOUR FRESH AIR PHOTO & HAVE IT SHOWN ON BT!

Bobby Hull on BT!

hull

One of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the game, Bobby Hull earned the nickname “The Golden Jet” for his powerful skating, booming slapshot and blond hair. The NHL legend was the first to score more than 50 goals in a season (54 – the most ever in the Original 6 era), and once had his shot clocked at more than 118 miles per hour (the NHL’s reigning “hardest shot” king, Zdeno Chara, registered 105.4 mph with a composite stick in 2009). A Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1961, Hull also won two Hart Memorial Trophies as NHL MVP, three Art Ross Memorial Trophies as the league’s top scorer and a Lady Byng Memorial Trophy as the most gentlemanly player. His 303 goals in 411 games with the rival WHA indicate “what might have been,” had the sniper stayed in the NHL for his entire career.

We gave Bobby a break from signing autographs at West Edmonton Mall to pick his brain about the current state of the NHL including his beloved Chicago Blackhawks, the recently-suspended Alex Ovechkin, Russia’s KHL, hockey in Winnipeg, his son Brett’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame and better days for the Edmonton Oilers. Click on the video link below for our extended interview with the great Bobby Hull…

March morning

March morning

Just phenominal.    Thank you Steve,..with honorable mention going to Mother Nature!    Steve was on his way into Edmonton from Ardrossan the other morning, when the painting began, so he shot this with his iphone.    What catches my eye is the brilliant blue .. would you agree it is cobalt blue?    Or maybe it is:  Sky blue, baby blue, neon blue, blue-violet, aqua blue, or kool-aid blue.

DID YOU KNOW?       The best shots of a sunrise and sunset happen before that big fire ball is actually in frame.    This Saturday, Spring Equinox begins.    We are experiencing much longer days already.    That means more time for you to get out there and shoot!

Ok OK here we go

Alright here we go again, I am back to blogs with a new approach. While I am going to try and keep you up to date on local goings on, I am also going to give you links to music videos as daily as I can. I spent a long while yesterday watching music videos online and realized that I really miss when Much Music was more than reality TV and countdown clip shows. If in fact they still are. I will admit it has been years since I tried watching, MTV is just as bad. When I was first getting into music, Much and MTV  were a great way to find out about interesting music. Now it seems like its tough to find somewhere to watch music videos. Youtube has got a bunch, but who is going to help you find some good ones? blogs thats who.  So, I have decided to shed some light on some fantastic music videos with this blog.

Let me begin with the video that inspired me to try this out.

Grizzly Bear – Knife
