Swimming anyone?

Swimming anyone?

Good thing Simon didn’t lean over too far.    This gator is one of many that live in Gatorland near the Florida Everglades.    Not sure if Simon did any wrestling, but he sure is getting the evil eye.    Gatorland is 110-acres of theme park & nature conservatory.    Later Gator!

DID YOU KNOW?    Alligators have 5 toes on the front legs and 4 toes on the back — and check out his nostrils.    They face upward so they can breathe while the rest of their body is underwater.    Here are some of the main differences between alligators and crocodiles:   Alligators have a wider snout than crocodiles.    Crocodiles can live in both fresh and salt water – alligators live in fresh water.    They can tolerate salt water but only for brief periods of time.

DIVE IN.     GO OUT ON A LIMB.    TAKE A WALK ON THE WILDSIDE.    BUT FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE – BE CAREFUL!!    HAVING SAID THAT – WE LOOK FORWARD TO ‘YOUR’ FRESH AIR PHOTO .. UPLOAD YOURS TODAY!!!

Some enchanted evening

Some enchanted evening

This is one of those times when Mother Nature creates the perfect shot.    We are fortunate  Don was enjoying the view to the west in Sherwood Park and had his camera within arm’s reach.    February 10th was cool day, lots of clouds, but cleared in the evening.     Don writes:  ”I took this Delta Cloud photo with ten power through the window with the V-roofs as a border–It is a cool picture”.    It sure is!

DID YOU KNOW?    Don refers to the Delta cloud …  the very sharp cloud top.    The low clouds that we had hanging around our city over the last few days are stratus clouds.

CLOUDS, SKY, TREES, SUNRISE, SUNSET …. YOU GET THE IDEA.    WE ARE WAITING FOR YOUR FRESH AIR PHOTO RIGHT NOW.    HEAD BACK TO OUR WEBSITE’S MAIN PAGE AND UPLOAD YOUR PIC UNDER THE “CONNECT WITH BT” LINK.    WATCH FOR IT ON BT AND ON THIS VERY BLOG.

Unscheduled meeting

Flying blind

Have we ever had FOGGY mornings lately!    Check this out.    On one particular morning after the fog had lifted – it cleared the way for this one in a million shot!    Not fingerprints or footprints, but featherprints in the snow – courtesy of Murray in Ponoka.    Chickadees were flying to the feeder in the FOG(at one point it was almost a total whiteout).    One got disoriented and crashed into the fence in the yard.    Murray, a registered bander of birds, has seen a lot of strange activity from our fine feathered friends but says this is a first.    The bird was ok, but was stunned and probably looked around in embarrassment with a: “sheesh – did anybody see that?” ..  and flew away.

DID YOU KNOW?    The most common crashes for our neighbourhood birds are against windows – now you have an excuse to leave that streak.    Fledglings(a young  bird that has just learned to fly) can and do fly into obstacles and survive.

POINT AND SHOOT — BUT BE CAREFUL YOU DON’T HIT ANYTHING!    UPLOAD YOUR FRESH AIR PHOTO TODAY AND SEE IT ON BT … TOMORROW!

I love this weatherman!

The Art of Compromise

My wife Kari grew up dreaming of competing as a figure skater in the Olympics. Anytime Canada’s top skaters compete, she studies their every stride.

I, like every Canadian boy, continue to dream of a late call-up to the NHL. When Team Canada plays in international competition, I drop everything to watch.

So when Canadian skaters Vaughn Chipeur and Patrick Chan took to the ice at the same time Team Canada battled Norway in Vancouver on Wednesday evening, we had to find a way to keep everybody happy.

I think we did alright:

Bachelorwomenx-wide-community

With just a couple more episodes to go, it’s down to the angel and the devil (or whatever our BT Bachelor panelist Trevor dubbed them) for Jake the Pilot’s bride. Not that Gia sounds too heartbroken about it…

If you missed Monday’s episode of The Bachelor here on Citytv, our panel brought you everything you really needed to know at 7:40 Tuesday morning. As per usual, they pulled no punches. Click on the video link below to check it out.

Next Monday night, “the women tell all.” In other words, all the scorned singles get together to roast Vienna. Then, on Monday, March 1, Jake will choose between Vienna and Tenley for his forever partner. Cough cough.

Look! An Inukshuk!

They BELIEVE!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen — in Red Deer, Penny and Dave are telling us:  WE BELIEVE~!!    And I believe that this is the rockingest front yard snow sculpture I have ever seen.    Here’s the story from Penny:  ”My hubby Dave made this Inukshuk out of the berm of ice and snow left by the plows on our side of the street.   He is complete with hockey stick and Canadian flag!”    Congratulations on showing your Canadian pride and civic duty(by picking up where the grader left off).

DID YOU KNOW?    Inukshuk, means “in the likeness of a human” in the Inuit language.    They are monuments made of unworked stones that are used by the Inuit for communication and survival.    The traditional meaning of the inukshuk is “Someone was here” or “You are on the right path.”    These sculptural forms are among the oldest and most important objects placed by humans upon the vast Arctic landscape and have become a familiar symbol of the Inuit and of their homeland.

AS YOU CAN SEE, YOU ONLY NEED TO GO AS FAR AS THE FRONT YARD TO GET OUR ATTENTION.    JOIN THE FRESH AIR PHOTO NATION AND SEE YOUR PICTURE ON BT AND RIGHT HERE ON THIS BLOG.    LOOK FOR ”CONNECT WITH BT” ON OUR MAIN PAGE, THEN CLICK ON ”SEND US YOUR PHOTOS”.
